SCRI’ S LOCATION |
|
SCRI is located in Van Nuys, on the north-west side of Los Angeles, near CSUN, UCLA, USC, major medical facilities, Van Nuys Airport and several freeways. The diverse populations of adjacent areas provide a large subject pool from which participants are recruited for experiments. A subject database with hundreds of contacts sorted by age, gender, ethnic background, and drinking habit facilitates access to the pool of candidates. The SCRI facility includes a conference room, offices, testing areas (light, sound, and temperature controlled), and a medical station with breath sampling instruments for alcohol measurements and all essential equipment and supplies. SCRI owns (or is licensed to use) tests measuring a wide range of human capabilities, including sensation, perception, cognition, driving and its analogs. The availability of such apparatus supports the development of test batteries that are targeted to the specific needs of each research project. |
